Kraków is the most visited Polish city by foreign tourists (10 million annually). Four days is the minimum to comfortably see everything.
## Day 1 — Wawel and Market Square
Morning: Wawel — Cathedral (30 PLN, Sigismund tower 15 PLN, Sigismund bell), Royal Chambers (40 PLN), Crown Treasury.
Lunch: Restauracja Wawel (at the foot of the hill, 60-100 PLN, Polish cuisine).
Afternoon: Main Market Square, Sukiennice (Cloth Hall — Museum of 19th-Century Polish Painting, 30 PLN), St. Mary's Church (10 PLN, 11:50 opening of the Wit Stwosz altar), Town Hall Tower (15 PLN, panorama).
Evening: dinner at Wierzynek (Rynek 15, Poland's oldest restaurant since 1364, elegant, 200-400 PLN/person) or more affordable at Camelot Kabaret Cafe (Św. Tomasza 17, 60-120 PLN).
## Day 2 — Kazimierz and Podgórze
Morning: Kazimierz — Szeroka Street, synagogues (Old 10 PLN, Remuh 8 PLN, Tempel 15 PLN), Remuh Cemetery (free, men with head covering).
Lunch: Ariel (Szeroka 18, traditional Jewish cuisine, 40-80 PLN), Klezmer-Hois (klezmer concerts).
Afternoon: Plac Nowy (zapiekanki market), bridge to Podgórze. Oskar Schindler's Enamel Factory (Lipowa 4, Historical Museum, 30 PLN, 3 hours — powerful exhibition about occupied Kraków).
Evening: back to centre, dinner at Nolio (Św. Tomasza 32, author's Italian cuisine, 100-200 PLN).
## Day 3 — Wieliczka Salt Mine
Trip to Wieliczka (12 km from centre, bus 30 min, 5 PLN).
9:30-13:00: Wieliczka Salt Mine (130 PLN, mandatory booking). 3 hours, 380 steps down, 2.5 km of corridors, St. Kinga's Chapel. Very strong impression.
Lunch on-site (Restauracja Wielicka, 60-100 PLN).
Afternoon: Wieliczka Castle (Kraków Saltworks Museum, 30 PLN), stroll the town.
Evening: back to Kraków, dinner at Pod Aniołami (Grodzka 35, Polish cuisine, dining in 14th-century cellars).
## Day 4 — Auschwitz (option) or Nowa Huta
**Option A — Auschwitz-Birkenau** (Oświęcim, 60 km):
Excursion bus from Plac Centralny, 100 PLN with guide. Full day. Very heavy exhibition — not for children under 14. Online booking mandatory (auschwitz.org).
**Option B — Nowa Huta**:
Tram 4 from Rynek, 30 min. Plac Centralny (1950s socialist realism masterpiece), Metallurgy Combine (now ArcelorMittal), Nowa Huta Museum in an anti-atomic bunker (30 PLN). Complete 1950s communist era at arm's reach.
